Euro Road Trip – France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium

I planned to do a road trip in my Porsche Boxster in the summer of 2024. Having been driving for nearly 20 years and owning many 'driver focused' cars, one thing I have never done is to take one of my cars over to mainland Europe. Most likely due to the all-encompassing anxiety of a breakdown that comes with driving 20year old performance cars and hot hatches.

Madeira – Portugal

We opted to visit Madeira; 'The Hawaii of Europe'. Simple enough to book flights, accommodation and a hire car to explore the small island in the Atlantic, just 500 miles off the coast of Morocco. The place seems to be getting quite the buzz on Instagram, due to its year round good weather and dramatic scenery. I was hoping to pick up my camera again and see some of the impressive landscapes.

Fuji Five Lakes – Fujiyoshida, Japan

Following 5 days in Tokyo we moved on to Fujiyoshida a small town at the base of the magnificent Mt. Fuji. I'm always drawn towards mountainous areas (although technically Fuji san is a volcano) it is so perfectly formed and visible from all around south western Japan.

Finally, after 3 years of waiting we were able to take our dream trip to Japan. Postponed since April 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic and with Japan being one of the last countries to fully open its borders for tourism all I can say is it was really worth the wait!

By this point in the pandemic, while potentially possible to go abroad the risk of last minute changes to plans, quarantine, testing and cancellations was not worth the hassle.Instead we chose to visit North Wales and Gwynedd region.
