Madeira – Portugal

We opted to visit Madeira; 'The Hawaii of Europe'. Simple enough to book flights, accommodation and a hire car to explore the small island in the Atlantic, just 500 miles off the coast of Morocco. The place seems to be getting quite the buzz on Instagram, due to its year round good weather and dramatic scenery. I was hoping to pick up my camera again and see some of the impressive landscapes.

Kyoto & Osaka – Japan

After spending 4 days in the Mount Fuji area, we travelled via shinkansen to Kyoto, the ancient capital city of Japan. The city has a wealth of shrines and temples as well as old fashioned small wooden Japanese buildings. We did a variety of activities in Kyoto and maybe felt like we could have spent a few extra days in the area.

Tokyo – Japan

Finally, after 3 years of waiting we were able to take our dream trip to Japan. Postponed since April 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic and with Japan being one of the last countries to fully open its borders for tourism all I can say is it was really worth the wait!

Chamonix – Alps, France

Another year and another school holidays passes by without the ability of conveniently or smoothly being able to travel abroad. By this point in the pandemic, while potentially possible to go abroad the risk of last minute changes to plans, quarantine, testing and cancellations was not worth the hassle.Instead we chose to visit North Wales and Gwynedd region.

Isle of Skye, West Highlands – Scotland

I needed a holiday so, so badly. After a tough half term at school I tentatively booked 5 days on Skye. This is a trip I had planned for the same time last year when my plans were scuppered by a broken collarbone and subsequent shoulder surgery.

Faroe Islands

Of all the countries I've visited, the Scandinavian nations are by far and away my favourite. I'm a fan of colder climates and having already visited Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark; the somewhat obscure allure of the Faroe Islands seemed to be the sensible choice for my next destination.

Banff National Park and The Canadian Rockies, Canada

To celebrate mine and Nadine's 30th Birthdays we booked a long haul, activity packed trip to Banff National Park, Alberta. The trip would centre around visiting the world famous ski resorts in the area and be supplemented with a range of other outdoor winter activities.

Venice – Italy

Venice has never been a place I was desperate to see. The city for me is a bit of a 'romantic cliché.' It's where people go to propose to their significant other (you know who you are!). However its proximity to Pula in Croatia made it a convenient day trip to see what all the fuss was about.
