I needed a holiday so, so badly. After a tough half term at school I tentatively booked 5 days on Skye. This is a trip I had planned for the same time last year when my plans were scuppered by a broken collarbone and subsequent shoulder surgery.
Following a busy few days preparing for and shooting Carly and Paul's wedding and having already made the journey way north of the border, Nadine and I extended our stay in Scotland and travelled north-west to stay in Fort William for New Year.
Paul has a close connection with Scotland, with both his parents being from Glasgow and coincidently his late grandparents living in Musselburgh just outside Edinburgh - where some of my family came to settle too. Carly had always dreamed of a castle wedding so Scotland was the obvious choice for them.
Scotland will always be a special place for me. I spent many holidays and Christmases in and around Edinburgh, visiting grandparents and family and I still visit every couple of years. It holds a great amount of nostalgia for me and I still see the city as a unique and beautiful place to visit.
